Baby Sock Ornaments - Use Old Baby Clothing for Craft Projects
This is a great craft idea to do during the holidays. Baby clothing never gets dirty or worn out so it's the perfect recycled craft material for this year's Christmas project. So, grab a pair of old babies socks and get ready to create your own snowman ornament.
Materials needed
1 White baby sock
Batting (you can use old nylon stockings or cotton if you don't have batting)
String
Fabric or ribbon
1 Colored baby sock (makes two hats)
Glue
3 Black Buttons
Permanent markers
1 Orange pipe cleaner (nose)
Any color pipe cleaner (earmuffs)
2 mini pompons
Instructions
- Fill the foot of a white baby sock with batting. Tie shut just above the ankle with string. Trim off the cuff.
- Divide the sock ball into body and head by tying a strip of fabric or ribbon (the scarf) around the sock.
- To make the hat, gather the colored sock together at the ankle and tie with string. Leave enough string for a hanging loop. Cut off the foot. Roll up the edge of the sock like a stocking cap. Glue or sew on the hat.
- Next, glue or sew on buttons. Draw on the eyes and mouth with markers. Cut a 1-inch piece of pipe cleaner and poke it in for the nose. For earmuffs, wrap a piece of pipe cleaner around the head and tuck the ends under the hat rim. Glue on pompons.
